“To pursue your dreams, you have to take action. Move it or lose it. Act or be acted upon. If you don’t have what you want, consider creating what you want. God will light the path. Your chance of a lifetime, the door to your dreams is open. Your path to a purpose may present itself at any moment. Be ready for it. Do all you need to do. Learn all you need to know. If no one comes knocking, beat down a few doors. One day you’ll step into the life you desire.”
Hello, I am April Joy Martinez. I am a Virtual Assitant. I am a graduate of BS Statistics from the University Of The Philippines at Los Banos. My first employment was with Accenture where I worked as a Data Analyst. After more than a year, I worked with Software Ventures International as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst. I was hired by Citibank after a year and worked as a Decision Management Analyst. This is where my career in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Database Management started. After 3 and half years, I moved to Singapore. I was first hired by DBS for 2.5 years as a Business Analyst and as a SAS Consultant. Then I was hired by UOB for 3.5 years as a Marketing Analyst. My employment ended in 2017 when I resigned to go back to Philippines for good and to take care of my newborn. After 4 years of being a plain house mom, I decided to take a leap and find work again. In March this year, I started working as a part-time Financial Advisor.

I am a wife to a wonderful husband. A good father to my 2 daughters and a good provider to our family. We love watching movies together, but most of the times, we watch K-Drama series. We love trying foods of different taste. As of late, our favorite is Mediterranean food, Japanese food and of course, Korean food. Who wouldn’t like it?
I am a mother of 2 beautiful daughters. Thanks to their mom’s genes. Haha! I may not be a perfect mom but thanks to the Lord for the continues wisdom and strength everyday as they grow. A messy house with toys all over is a usual scene at home. But I am happy that I got to be with them everyday. When I was abroad, I lost so much time with my eldest daughter. Now that I am with them, I try my best to make the best of every moment with them.
We have 8 cats at home and another 11 cats in our house in Laguna. They are Persians, Siamese and mixed breeds. They are not just pets but friends. They bring joy whenever they play and show their antics. They are playmates of my 2 children. We love them as part of our family, I love them as they are my own children.
I am a Statistician by profession. I was able to work mostly in banks and used some knowledge in Statistics. When I was still a child, I was always afraid of numbers and symbols. I never knew what to take in College until Mom encouraged me to take Statistics. I thought it was a wrong move back then. But it was actually a blessing in disguise when I am already working.
Even before the pandemic, we already enrolled our eldest child to homeschooling provider, School of Tomorrow. My husband was about to be assigned in Baguio that time. Since it is our opportunity to be together as family and most schools were quite far from our dwelling, we opted to homeschool our child. When the pandemic hit, we were not among the parents and students who had a hard time with the transition from face-to-face to modular or online learning scheme. As a teacher and a supervisor, I need to make sure that my child learns and have mastery of the subject by asking questions before quizzes and exams. I also need to device a technique whenever my child gets confused with the topic.
I started working part-time as a Financial Advisor in April 2021. This is not just a job for me but an advocacy to spread financial awareness to Filipinos specially to my family, relatives and friends. We had experienced first-hand how difficult it was to be sick or to have a sick family member. It is not only the sick person who suffers but also the family members – physically, emotionally and financially. I educate people that being prepared financially is one of the best way to face uncertainties (Sudden Death, Disability, Accident, Sickness) as they strike and a preparation for retirement.
